Put Your Body Back in Balance - Be Active & Happy!

Is your body feeling a bit out of balance? Do you have a little less 'pep in your step'? With the arrival of spring and National Nutrition Week taking place in October, now is the time to restore your wellbeing and vitality.

According to Nutrition Australia Senior Nutritionist Aloysa Hourigan, recent studies have shown that 64% of men and 49% of women are overweight or obese. The statistics for overweight and obesity in children are equally worrying with around 25% of Australian children fitting this category. As a nation, Australians are getting fatter - around the rate of 1kg more per year. It is estimated that by 2010, 70% of Australians will be above their healthy weight range.

It is important to establish a maintainable eating pattern - avoid the yo-yo approach to weight loss. Enjoying what you eat means you will be far more likely to maintain any changes you make to your food pattern. Focusing on healthy but good tasting food is one of the keys to long term success in weight management.

Busy lifestyles often mean we forget to seek out the fun things in life and food can become a quick substitute. Taking time out for ourselves (e.g. through music, physical activity, a facial, or a chat to a friend), can help us to keep our food and our waistlines in balance!

So there is a way to restore your body's balance - You need to be active; feel good; and enjoy food!
