Syncing with the 10,000 Steps Android App

New 10,000 Steps Android app versions are released every couple of months.

Update to the most recent version here. Previous versions may not work with Health Connect syncing.

Samsung Health

Connect your Samsung Health app to Health Connect

  1. Open the Samsung Health app
  2. Tap Settings > Health Connect > Allow all toggle > Allow
    a. Ensure "Sync with Samsung Cloud" toggle is ON
  3. Download or update the 10,000 Steps app.
  4. On the top right corner, tap ☰ > Tracker Connections > Connect with Health Connect.
  5. If prompted, confirm connection with Health Connect, and Allow all.
  6. On the bottom left, tap Dashboard and swipe down on the screen to sync steps.

If steps don't show - check that Samsung Health steps are appearing in Health Connect data. Once this happens (can take up to 72 hours), you should be able to sync to 10,000 Steps.

Fitbit

Connect your Fitbit app to Health Connect

  1. In the Fitbit app's Today tab, tap the device icon.
  2. In Add connections, tap Set up Health Connect.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Health Connect.
    a. Make sure "Steps" is selected for data access.
  4. Download or update the 10,000 Steps app.
  5. On the top right corner, tap ☰ > Tracker Connections > Connect with Health Connect.
  6. If prompted, confirm connection with Health Connect, and Allow all.
  7. On the bottom left, tap Dashboard and swipe down on the screen to sync steps.

If steps don't appear, check that Fitbit steps are appearing in Health Connect data. Once this happens, you should be able to sync to 10,000 Steps.

Google Fit

Connect your Google Fit app to Health Connect

  1. Open the Google Fit app
  2. Tap Profile > Settings > Under 'Health Connect' settings, turn on Sync Fit with Health Connect.
  3. Download or update the 10,000 Steps app.
  4. On the top right corner, tap ☰ > Tracker Connections > Connect with Health Connect.
  5. If prompted, confirm connection with Health Connect, and Allow all.
  6. On the bottom left, tap Dashboard and swipe down on the screen to sync steps.

If steps don't show - check that Google Fit steps are appearing in Health Connect data. Once this happens (can take up to 72 hours), you should be able to sync to 10,000 Steps.

Troubleshooting Health Connect

Tip: Most Health Connect issues relate to permission settings and data availability within Health Connect. Check your step data appears in Health Connect, and that we have permission to access. Find your Health Connect data.

Android 13, 12, 11

Before you get started, you might need to download Health Connect from the Google Play Store.

You can access the Health Connect app through:

  • Settings > Apps > Health Connect

Health Connect may be available through your Privacy settings, if Health Connect is preloaded on your device. See Android 14 below.

Android 14

Health Connect comes preloaded on Android 14. Depending on your device, you might find Health Connect through:

  • Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Health Connect.
  • Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Privacy dashboard > (see other permissions) > Health Connect.
  • Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Permission manager > Health Connect.

Check permissions for 10,000 Steps and other Apps

  1. Open Health Connect.
  2. Tap App permissions.
  3. Turn on permission for 10,000 Steps and other apps that you want to sync with Health Connect.
  4. Select data permissions that you want to share. For 10,000 Steps, select All.
  5. Tap Allow.
