2025 Australasian University Health Challenge

Monday 18th August to Sunday 28th September

What is the Australasian University Health Challenge?

The Australasian University Health Challenge (AUHC) is a health-focused initiative where staff and students make behavioural changes to increase their daily levels of physical activity.

Being physically active is crucial for health and wellbeing. Less than 20% of Australian adults reach the recommended activity level each day. Recent research has shown that health benefits are found with even small increases in the number of steps we take. Now is a great time to add more steps to your day!

Universities across Australia have teamed up to provide staff and students with an opportunity to increase their physical activity, through a fun and exciting inter-university competition.

Over a 6 week period from 18th August to 28th September, challenge yourself and your friends to increase your daily amount of steps through small yet significant behavioural changes. Represent your University and compete against other institutions across Australasia.

Physical activity CAN be fun. Join with your friends and colleagues to feel the benefits!

How does the AUHC work?

Join the 2025 AUHC by choosing your team below.

Once joined, log your steps to contribute to your university total. You can also add physical activity other than walking, including cycling or swimming.

With your colleagues or by yourself, strive to increase your daily step count. Visit this page regularly to see which University is in the lead!

Note: No personal individual data is visible to other participants on the public Health Challenge Leaderboard. Your steps will be added to the total and average, but your name and other details will not appear publicly on this page.

The 2025 AUHC Leaderboard

The 2025 AUHC Leaderboard updates every half an hour and displays progress from Monday 18th August to Sunday 28th September 2025. The winner of the overall AUHC is the university who has the highest average steps at the end of the event. Average steps are calculated by dividing the total number of team steps by the number of team members.

If your university is running an internal Tournament, you may have other awards, prizes, or conditions. Reach out to the Coordinator at your university to find out more.
