Move more, in ways that work for you.
The Move Together Challenge is a Queensland‑wide initiative designed to make walking and everyday movement easier to build into everyday life. It supports people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to be more active in practical, achievable ways, at work, home and in the community.
From 3 August to 13 September, any steps and physical activity you log in your 10,000 Steps account will automatically count towards the Challenge. Walking, whether it is a short walk, a longer stroll, or movement during daily tasks like housework or gardening all counts towards your total.
Every step contributes to a shared statewide total, showing how regular walking adds up across Queensland. Set your own goals, track your progress, and take part in the Challenge.
Let’s see how many steps Queensland can reach!

How to Get Involved
You can join the Challenge individually, as a part of a community group or through your workplace. However you choose to take part, you will be stepping alongside people across Queensland to help build a more active and healthier community.
1. Take part on your own
- Sign up or sign in to your 10,000 Steps account
- Download the free mobile app from the App Store or Google Play
- Connect your activity tracker to sync your steps or log manually
- Start logging or syncing your steps from 3 August - your steps will count towards the Challenge automatically.
If you later join a Group or take part in a Workplace Tournament, your steps will be included there too.
2. Create or join a group
Move together with friends, family, or your community by creating or joining a group of up to 20 people. All members need a 10,000 Steps account before they can be added to a group. If you are organising a group:

Movement Matters
Being physically active each day, especially through regular walking and everyday tasks, supports better physical health, improved mental wellbeing, and stronger social connection.
Regular walking and light activity, even in small amounts, is linked to increased energy, improved mood, better sleep, and reduced risk of chronic conditions. Activities like walking to the shops, doing housework, gardening, or moving around at work all contribute. No gym or structured exercise is required.
Small actions add up. Adding a few extra steps through daily walking and routine activities, consistently over time, can lead to meaningful improvements in how you feel.
This Challenge is designed to be inclusive, flexible, and achievable. It is not about speed, distance, or fitness levels. It is about walking more where you can, moving through everyday tasks, and building habits that fit real life and last.

Pedometers are ideal if you don’t use a smartphone or wearable and they’re a great solution for health workers and others who can’t wear wrist‑based devices at work.
