As a 10,000 Steps member, you may no longer require your 10,000 Steps account to be active. As 10,000 Steps is a Research Project we are required to retain de-identified step data therefore we provide two options:
- Account deactivation - accounts can be temporarily made inactive by contacting the 10,000 Steps team by email. This means that the member will no longer be able to login and the member will be marked in our database as no longer active. Account deactivation is temporary and can be reactivated at anytime by contacting us.
- Account deletion - accounts can be marked for deletion by contacting the 10,000 Steps team by email or through requesting account deletion in the 10,000 Steps mobile app. By requesting account deletion, the member will be permanently logged out of the mobile app and marked for deletion in the database. Our team will permanently de-identify member personal account information provided during sign up, while retaining de-identified step data as a requirement from our funding bodies. Account deletion is permanent and once actioned, member accounts are not be able to be recovered.
