What Tracker Connections are Available on Your Mobile App?

Apple iOS - iPhones

The 10,000 Steps mobile app can sync steps from activity tracking devices that record steps and are compatible with Apple Health (Apple iOS).

Where tracker connection fails or devices record activity other than steps, direct entry is the fastest and most accurate option. Direct entry is available via our website or mobile app:

Android - Samsung, Google Pixel, and other devices.

The 10,000 Steps mobile app can sync steps from devices that record steps and are compatible with Health Connect on Android 14 and below.

You may also have some success connecting your Garmin, Fitbit, and Google Fit accounts through our website. These are website-to-website connections, and are less real-time than direct entry.

Do you have Tracker Connections on Your Website?

Where connecting via our mobile app is not possible, your Garmin, Google Fit, or Fitbit accounts can be connected to the website version of your account via Tracker Connections.

These are website-to-website connections, and are not real-time (they do not always instantly sync). Garmin, Google Fit, and Fitbit send step data in batches through this method, and you may experience delayed step syncing (usually 1 - 12 hours) and dropouts.

We recommend checking in with your step log in the final days of your Tournament or Challenge to confirm there are no missed days or incorrect step logs. You can view and edit your step log at any time via Dashboard > View Step Log.

Can I Track More Than Just Steps?

Your Step Log also allows you to track minutes of physical activity (moderate or vigorous), designed for activity that is not typically captured with step counters (e.g. swimming).

We have some information on our step conversions, and how our members can use moderate and vigorous minutes:

My Brand of Step Tracker is Very Popular- Why Isn't Syncing Available?

10,000 Steps may not have current capacity to support syncing.

10,000 Steps is a small non-profit organisation that aims to offer a flexible program for our members to log their steps in their Step Log, in Challenges, and in Tournaments. 10,000 Steps strives to provide connections where we can, and direct step entry options where we can't.

We do not receive special treatment or earlier information from activity tracker companies, and can only operate within the limits of our funding. This means we can't offer every connection, and do not always have capacity to make large or immediate updates when connections are changed.

Syncing may not be available regardless of our capacity.

The relationships between activity tracker companies and operating system providers like Google and Apple are outside of 10,000 Steps control.

For example, many large activity tracking companies do not allow their data to be shared on both Apple Health and Google Health Connect at the same time. Additionally, some activity tracking companies do not allow their data to be shared outside of their own app or platform at all.

If you'd like to have more control over your step and health data, please reach out to the team who sell your activity tracker to encourage them to allow more connections, regardless of brand.

Can I Use Bridging Apps to Sync My Steps?

10,000 Steps does not recommend the use of data syncing apps beyond Apple Health or Google Health Connect.

We understand that third party apps do exist that claim to bridge the connection between proprietary activity tracking apps and Apple Health or Health Connect, but do not provide support information for these.
