Through the delivery and implementation of evidence based policy and programs, Preventive Health SA works to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities for South Australian communities.
Preventive Health SA focuses on the following priority areas of prevention:
- Obesity prevention (with a focus on food and physical activity)
- Tobacco control
- Vaping
- Alcohol and other drugs
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Suicide prevention; and

Obesity Prevention
With a focus on food and physical activity, Preventive Health SA is working to support all South Australians, promoting wellbeing and preventing risk factors in people who are well.
Mental health and wellbeing
Preventive Health SA is working to foster partnerships required to build resilient and connected communities and improve South Australians’ mental health and wellbeing.
Tobacco and vaping
Preventive Health SA is committed to reducing the prevalence and impact of tobacco smoking and e-cigarette use (vaping), to improve the health and wellbeing of South Australians.
Alcohol and other drugs
Preventive Health SA is working to reduce the impact of alcohol and other drugs, and create healthy and safe environments for all South Australians.
